(War Of Ages, Convictions, and Earth Groans)

Welcome to another concert blog here on my page. This one comes from a show that I attended last week. Another one at Scout Bar in Houston where I picked up a photo pass from one of the touring bands. Six were on the cards. Three touring, those are mentioned in the title. And three that are locals. Those are not mentioned here and will not be in this blog post. But going up right before this article is another edition of my "Local Music Spotlight" and this article will have a link to it down below. With that being said. Let's get on to the touring bands for this article.

Earth Groans

The first of the three touring acts up was the South Dakota natives in Earth Groans. This four piece, Hardcore-Punk band brings a unique and mustached experience to the stage. Being labelmates on Solid State Records with other Christian bands like Silent Planet, Phinehas, Fit For a King, and Norma Jean. The later being something of what their sound reminds me the most of. From the stage to down in person these guys are amazing! I had the chance to catch up with Jeremy their lead singer after the set and he was still as energetic as he was before, and during their set. He was hanging out selling merch at their booth and just being one of the coolest guys to talk to in the room. The conversation went from favorite bands, to what they like to do in between shows and where they like to go when in a city on a tour stop. The interaction ended with me picking up a cool looking mustache shaped keychain/bottle opener from the group. All in all a really solid group of guys and a great set. I will definitely check them out the next time that they hit Houston.

Convictions

The next of the three was the band Convictions. This band was the reason that I got to bring my camera along of the show and got some of the great shots that you will see here on this blog and with the "Local Music Spotlight" blog.  A four piece, Christian Metal, Metalcore/Post-Hardcore group from Fremont, Ohio. I first came across this band on twitter through recommendations related to other bands. From there I have only become more of a fan of their music. Moving on, they are signed to InVogue Records along with bands like Courage My Love, and one of my favorites Hotel Books. As well as former members of the label being Chunk, No Captain Chunk, and Being As An Ocean. Their sound brings to mind the guitar stylings of a Phinehas element, maybe a little Fit For A King. And the vocals definitely being a mix of the two. Playing hits like I Will Become, and House Of Lies. This band, being six years into it, have the energy of a new band, and the experience to move the crowd like a veteran band. Can't wait to see what they do from here on out and what new music they come out with.

War Of Ages

Originally known as Point Zero, this five piece Christian Metal/Metalcore group out of Erie, Pennsylvania is now known as War Of Ages. Beginning with their current vocalist Leroy and guitarist Steve, the band began as Point Zero back in 2002. After 2005 though; they started going by the name War Of Ages. This also came as the switched from Strike First records to their current record label Facedown. This along with bands such as My Epic and Comrades. Being the headliner these guys almost didn't make it to the show. Their van had broken down after their last show in Arkansas and they had to get things in order pretty quickly. They made it with a little bit of time to spare and took to the stage like the 15 year veterans that they are. They played og faves like Creator, and newer hits like Cutthroat, and Hollow Point. Then after the set was done they were right there at their merch booth to meet with fans, take pictures, and autograph merch. After meeting up with them and grabbing a killer Alpha album art wall flag to add to the collection that I am rebuilding after losing 80% of mine during the previous hurricane season.
