Knocked Loose Headliner?

Hey guys! Welcome to another edition of my concert blogs. The band for this one comes straight out of Oldham County, Kentucky. Bringing a new age twist to the time honored classic genre known as Hardcore. This five piece band known as "Knocked Loose" came into the hardcore scene in 2013. They released their first studio material with their first record label Little Heart. This was an EP titled "Pop Culture" back in 2014. They released another EP/Split Record with Damaged Goods on the label No Luck  split with the label Little Heart. And finally in early 2016 the band signed with Pure Noise records and released their first full length album with that label titled "Laugh Tracks". 

 Fast-forward to 2018. The band has played shows supporting bands like Every Time I Die, and Comeback Kid. They even played Warped Tour in summer of 2017. Then they embark on their first headlining tour. Starting on February 28th they toured the United States with supporting acts Terror, Jesus Piece, and Stone. However, the latter was dropped from the tour amidst sexual assault allegations against members of the band before the tour began. They were subsequently replaced by Year Of The Knife. They sold-out their first six tour stops, one being the show in Houston that I was at. And after seeing their show in Houston, I could easily tell why they sold it out! Add in the fact that the venues are not super small either. The Houston venue has a capacity of 550, the Denver one has 800, and two of the California ones that sold-out had capacities of the same or greater.

 The show was insane and amazingly fun! Starting with YOTK, a band that I did not know before the show. Then it moved on to Jesus Piece, not a bad set. It was during this set that a fight almost broke out when two people came barreling through the crowd knocking a few, including me, over. At this point the lead singer stopped everything mid-song to call the two out. A close call for me and my camera. But the show continued. After their set it was time for the OG's of the hardcore scene, Terror. This was ultimately a great choice by the tour organizers. Putting a veteran of the hardcore scene, who has been around for 15 years. It was also like sort of a passing the baton kind of move. You have the veterans passing on the torch of the Hardcore scene on to a younger band to carry the legacy into the future. And Knocked Loose is a great band to pass it on to.
Speaking of the headliner of the show. The band I have been talking about all blog. Time for Knocked Loose to take the stage. And they did it in true hardcore fashion. Hitting the stage with the powerful "Separate". Bryan Garris' vocals getting the crowd moving from the word go, in a sense. Then there's the rest of the band in Guitarist Cole Crutchfield, and Isaac Hale, Bassist Kevin Otten, and Drummer Kevin "Pacsun" Kaine. But there's something unique about the vocals from Bryan Garris. He brings a new age twist to the time honored genre. His higher pitched, almost whinier vocals that command movement from the crowd. Through the songs "Billy No-Mates", "The Gospel", and "Oblivion's Peak". We also can't forget arguably the bands biggest hit, "Counting Worms". The song that is only 1:11 long and only contains 15 words. But the thing that has the crowd singing it's tune is the now infamous dog bark (ARF! ARF!) that gets the crowd screaming along in excitement. From beginning to end the band was invested in the set fully. And it is no wonder why they have taken off and now selling out close 1,000 cap venues after being in the scene for such short of a time.

Blooming Flowers In The Springtime Bloom by. Troye Sivan Single Review _____________________________ (Disclaimer! This review will be graphic in nature due to the songs theme. Reader discretion is advised.) And we are rolling right on into our next review! This week we have the instant hit new single by Troye Sivan . It is titled "Bloom" and I am living for it! The only thing is that he is killing us by not revealing the upcoming album title and release date. He is constantly teases us about it and makes us play these guessing games. All that aside. The song is amazing! It mixes in a lot of the modern pop vibes, but also mixes in a healthy amount of an older style that is not as prevalent in today's pop music. This is something he seems to be doing a lot of on this new album. And I cannot wait for it! We need this album, and we need Troye to release it NOW! Taking Control, Again Control by. Mirror Lake - Single Review _________________________________________________ Things just keep rolling here in the Music Review Army. In this edition we have local Houston band Mirror Lake's latest single "Control" . A while back I reviewed their first single "Empty Home" . A track that I enjoyed quite a bit and listen to frequently. When they dropped this single a while back it took me a while to get to it and I am severely regretting it. But now that I have had time to thoroughly I can sit here and write down my thoughts on it. Because it is my belief that this band has the potential to make it somewhere.  They has a lineup of some pretty solid and awesome awesome people. Zach Zepol and Avery Jean Clay on vocals.
